Internship Program Objectives
The Town of Christiansburg’s Public Relations Office Internship program aims to provide students with a working knowledge of public information in the local government sector. The program strives to provide this working knowledge through a curriculum that is suited to the individual intern and comprised of real world projects, learning exercises and professional feedback.
How many internships are available through the Public Relations Office?
Please keep in mind that though your application materials may be strong, the Public Relations Office only accepts one intern per term.
Who can apply for a Public Relations internship?
Graduate level applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. The Public Relations Office may also consider undergraduate seniors with strong credentials.
What types of projects will I work on?
The Public Relations Office works on a number of short term and long term projects that continually change as they progress. Interns can expect a variety of experience in writing press releases, drafting web content, and other duties as assigned.
How do I apply?
Please check our Employment Opportunities page for current internship availability.
For your application to be considered complete, you must also provide:
- A cover letter
- Your resume
- A 3-5 page writing sample (may consist of multiple examples, but not to exceed 5 pages total)
I've filled out my application and submitted it. When can I expect a reply?
Because the Public Relations Office receives applications on a rolling basis, response times may vary, though applicants may expect to receive a response within two to three weeks of submission.
