Harry Collins has served the Planning Commission since 2012 and joined Town Council in January 2016.
Harry earned his B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing from Virginia Tech. He currently works as the Facilities Manager for VIAVI Solutions.
As a member of Town Council, Harry is looking forward to supporting downtown business development; redevelopment and beautification opportunities throughout town; growing Town sponsored events; and finding additional avenues to support the Christiansburg Farmers’ Market.
In 2010, Harry was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and had a bilateral lung transplant at Duke University Medical Center. Harry is now a member of the National Board of Directors for the Lung Transplant Foundation and started the Virginia Chapter headquartered in Christiansburg. Harry organized the First Annual Virginia Chapter Lung Transplant Foundation Golf Tournament in March 2016 and continues to head this event each year in March at the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech.
Harry also served as a basketball and baseball coach for the Christiansburg Recreation Department for many years.
Harry is married to Sherri Dalton Collins and has four children, two step-children, and eight grandchildren.
