Water improvement project to affect traffic patterns on Harless Street

During the week of March 12, the Town of Christiansburg is scheduled to start a water main upgrade project in the 900 block of Harless Street. The project's overall goal is to improve water pressure for residents in this area.

The work should not affect nearby residents' water and sewer services during construction; however, toward the end of the project, affected residents may experience a temporary water outage while new connections are made. Crews will attempt to notify each residence before the connection is made.

Construction is scheduled to be complete by April 20. Over the next few weeks, you will see Public Works staff in the area preparing and beginning construction. This will include layout, asphalt removal, excavation and staging of materials. During this time, there may be obstructions on Harless Street due to construction.

The work necessary to complete these improvements will require temporary detours at different locations throughout the project, as well as no through traffic on Harless Street between Forest Street and Lester Street. Access to residential properties will be maintained during the entire process. The Town will make every effort to minimize the impact of construction.
