Responsible for the fiscal budget, Administering Town Code in accordance with applicable State and Federal Laws, Long-range planning, Legal matters, and Procurement.

Human Resource Management

Building Inspections
Adheres to BOCA and CABO codes to ensure new structures are built in accordance with standards to preserve the safety of the occupant(s), serves as information resource on building code requirements, and performs all site inspections for residential and commercial development.

Engineering & Public Works
Engineering -- Perform design for Town infrastructure, provides technical support, and develops/maintains GIS data for the Town. 

Public Works -- Maintains all Town infrastructure, such as water & sewer lines, hydrants, streets, pump stations, landscaping, signs, traffic signals, snow and ice removal from streets, mowing Town properties, etc.

Planning & Zoning
Responsible for Planning and Zoning, provides information and support on planning/zoning codes and ordinances to maintain public safety and to adhere to State laws.

Treasurer & Finance
Responsible for utility billing, decals, taxes, and other revenues generated, and audit to comply with GAAP principals standards, and assists with budget preparation.

Police Department
Charged with public safety, and enforcement of local laws.  Also, serves as an education resource for programs such as D.A.R.E., Citizen’s Police Academy, Crime Prevention, School Resource Officer, etc., to assist citizens with crime prevention and public safety.

Fire Department
Volunteer Staff, serve to protect the citizens from fire, and to serve as an education resource for fire prevention.

Rescue Squad
Volunteer staff, serve to provide immediate medical care and transportation to medical facilities as necessary.

Parks & Recreation

Goal and function is to encourage physical activity and fitness for all citizens, and to provide facilities, equipment, parks, and programs that help to achieve those goals.  With our award-winning Recreation Center and many small neighborhood parks, our Recreation base is expanding with the new Harkrader Sports Complex that will boast 3 competition baseball/softball fields, walking track, and soccer/multipurpose fields.  Additionally, we are in the initial design phase for the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, which will have additional recreation equipment to compliment our Recreation Center, as well as a competition-size indoor pool and a family pool.
