Flooding

During severe rainfall or melting snow, the water unable to soak into the ground needs to go some place.  In many cases, the system has been designed to handle normal amounts of runoff.  However, if the system has been compromised because of a clogged storm drain or pipe, the stormwater system may not be able to function to full capacity.

What can you do?

  • Dispose of trash properly so that it does not end up in a storm drain.
  • Keep streets clean of yard wastes (grass clippings, leaves, branches, etc.).
  • Sweep or rake leaves and grass off of sidewalks and streets.
