NRV 911 Center
In June 2016, dispatch personnel from the Christiansburg Police Department joined the NRV 911 Center, located in the County's Public Safety Building on Main Street. With this change, the Christiansburg Police Department no longer has in-house dispatchers at the police station, but does have a secretary who can speak with residents face-to-face on weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Making officers available to residents at all times is a top priority, and because of this, residents still have access to the police station lobby 24/7 by using the call box outside the front door. The call box will connect to a dispatcher across the street, who can remotely open the lobby door.

Dispatchers are also available to speak with residents 24/7 via the non-emergency, after-hours number or, as always, via 911.

Joining the NRV 911 Center, along with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Blacksburg Police Department and Virginia Tech Police, will increase collaboration across area jurisdictions and allow the department to more quickly and accurately route calls to the appropriate local emergency medical, fire and law enforcement agencies. The Christiansburg Police Department looks forward to continuing to serve the needs of the community and helping to foster a safe environment.
