K9 Unit
Our K9s
The Christiansburg Police Department has four K-9s -- Odin and Ringo. The K-9s and their respective handlers, Officers Hyatt and Eversole, assist in criminal apprehension, missing persons and drug task force operations.

The K-9 unit was implemented at the Christiansburg Police Department in 2004 and originally consisted of one dual-purpose K-9 for drug detection and patrol duties. In 2008, the agency added a bloodhound to the unit to assist in searching for suspects and missing persons and has continued to grow since that time.
  • Odin, a Belgian Malinois, specializes in drug detection, patrol duties, and tracking.
  • Otis, a yellow Labrador retriever, faithfully served the department until retirement.
  • Ringo, a Belgian Malinois, specializes in drug detection.
  • Dany, a German Shepherd, faithfully served the department until retirement in 2012.
  • Mason was a bloodhound who faithfully served the department until 2011.
