Sunset Cemetery Operations
General Rules
1. Sunset Cemetery requires 24 hours notice for opening/closing grave sites.
2. Funeral Directors will present all burial documents upon arriving at the cemetery.
3. Funeral Directors will be responsible for providing artificial grass, lowering devices, tent(s), chairs, and any other equipment or materials associated with the burial ceremony.
4. Only human remains are permitted to be buried within the cemetery.
5. The scattering of ashes in Sunset Cemetery is strictly prohibited.
6. Burial vaults (concrete or steel) shall be required on all burials excluding cremations.
7. All openings and closings shall be completed by Sunset Cemetery.
8. Only one person may be buried in a grave site (plot) except for:
a. One adult and one infant
b. Two infants
c. Four cremations
d. One adult or infant and one cremation.
We are not able to offer burial on the following holidays:
- New Year's Eve
- New Year's Day
- Easter
- Memorial Day
- July 4th
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Day
Monuments

No monuments may be set by individual persons

Monuments cannot be placed until all respective plot(s) are paid in full

Base, depth, etc. will adhere to Sunset Cemetery's following requirements:
-For companion monuments with a base size of 4 feet to 6 feet, the cement foundation should be at least 18-20 inches deep
-For bases over 6 feet, the base must be at least 24 inches deep
-Single monuments with a base size of 2 feet to 3 Y, feet the cement
foundation should be at least 16 inches to 18 inches deep
-All markers single or companion require cement foundations of at least 14 inches deep
-Cement must be wet. Dry cement mixed with water can be used. The ground does not have enough moisture for dry cement to set up
-Temporary markers placed at the time of interment are not considered permanent and Sunset Cemetery is not responsible for the condition, loss or maintenance of such markers
Flowers
- It is requested that all flowers are to be affixed to the monument
- Flower and decorations that extend beyond the base of the monument will be removed if they interfere with normal maintenance
- Flowers will be picked up by cemetery personnel, without prior notice, when they wilt or become unsightly
- Artificial flowers are acceptable at Sunset Cemetery, however, all flowers are to be affixed to the monuments
- Sunset Cemetery is not responsible for flowers that are not affixed to the monument, blown away, stolen, or vandalized
- Special or Holiday flowers will be removed as follows:
-Christmas – February 1
-Easter – Thirty days after Easte
-Other Holidays – Thirty days
-Funeral – Seven to Ten days
Decorations
- It is requested that all decorations are to be affixed to the monument
- No decorative landscaping stones, fencing,curbs, or other decorative items shall be allowed on any plot(s)
- Temporary decorative items or memorabilia must be removed within thirty (30) days
- No permanent decorative objects are permitted
- The Cemetery has the right to remove non-conforming items from any plot after an attempt has been made to contact the plot owner(s) to remove such items
- The Cemetery will not be responsible for loss or damage of above mentioned decorative items
