The Public Works Streets division is further separated into four sub-divisions: pavement maintenance, right-of-way (ROW) maintenance, storm water maintenance and traffic operations.
The pavement maintenance division maintains and repairs 250 lane miles of roadway, walking trails and facility parking areas in the Town of Christiansburg.
Right of Way (ROW) Maintenance
This division is responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of the Town's right of way areas.
Responsibilities include mowing, planting/watering flowers, tree maintenance, installing utilities and conducting repairs as needed at each location.
Storm Water Maintenance
Town crews are responsible for maintaining, repairing and installing storm water infrastructure, such as culverts, ditches and drainage structures.
The traffic operations division maintains, repairs and installs the Town's traffic control devices, such as traffic signs, pavement markings and traffic signals. This division is also responsible for complying with federal, state and local standards.

Snow Removal - Snow removal is a combined effort from all Public Works divisions.
Brush/Junk Pick Up - The Right of Way Maintenance Division offers brush/junk pickup outside of regular fall and spring clean up times. Fees apply.
Fall and Spring Clean Up - The fall and spring cleanup is held during the first two weeks (approximate) of April and October.
Christmas Tree Pick Up - Public Works offers a special pickup for Christmas trees each year.
Storm Damage Clean Up - Storm Damage Clean Up is a combined effort from all Public Works divisions, performed on an as-need basis.
Street Sweeping - Street sweeping operations keeps Town streets clean and assists in Stormwater MS-4 compliance by keeping debris, such as gravel, out of our streams.
Storm Water Compliance (MS-4) - Public Works stays compliant with Stormwater MS-4 in a combined effort with the Town’s engineering department. Specific Public Works duties include inspecting stormwater outfalls and street sweeping.
The Public Works Department is on call 24/7, 365 days a year to respond to any after hour street related emergency, including downed trees, traffic signals and signs, roadway failure blocked storm drain structures.
