Brad Stipes has spent most of his life as a local resident, growing up in Blacksburg, attending Montgomery County Schools, and graduating from Virginia Tech. He and his wife, Michele, have raised six (wonderful) children in town, several of whom still reside in the area as adults.
Mr. Stipes is a licensed Civil Engineer practicing in Transportation and Traffic Engineering, and Land Use/Planning. Prior to his election to Town Council in 2006, he served on the Town’s Planning Commission for seven years and coached little league baseball for the Parks and Recreation Department for eight years.
In serving on council, Mr. Stipes' goal has been to effectively shape a growing community with changing needs to see that we pass along to future generations a Town that is vibrant, livable, affordable, and as attractive as possible in which to live, work, and play. A special emphasis of his has been the expansion of the Huckleberry Trail and other bicycle/pedestrian projects to enhance connectivity throughout town.
