Roanoke St. Paving Beginning May 21

Orange "road work ahead" sign

Crews will begin paving Roanoke St. from the US 460 Interchange near Falling Branch Rd. to Tower Rd./Hampton Blvd. the evening of May 21. The paving operations will be restricted to nigh-time hours beginning at 7 p.m. and continuing until 6 a.m. to limit traffic impacts. The work is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, depending on weather.

Drivers should expect nightly lane closures with side street flagging. Additional notifications will be posted as the work progresses.

This work was previously funded with VDOT State of Good Repair funds and was expected to be completed last year, however due to low nightly temperatures, paving operations could not be completed.

Roanoke Street from E Main Street to Depot Street (where the waterline project took place) is scheduled for paving later this fall due to funding availability through the State of Good Repair program. Since the work is federally funded, VDOT’s concurrence on the bidding documents is required.  Once concurrence is given, the Town will advertise the work and receive bids.  That process will take several weeks, however the paving is anticipated to be completed late summer or early fall.
