Christiansburg Town Council will be holding an organizational retreat on Tuesday, Feb. 18, and Saturday, Feb. 22, to discuss strategic goals, project prioritization and Council relations and procedures. The Saturday, Feb. 22, session will be held at the New River Business Center in Radford from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Finance Committee will hold a meeting on Monday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. in the administrative conference room of Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the status of the current FY 19-20 budget and a potential budget amendment; salary and wages; and the FY 20-21 budget, including schedule and revenue outlook.

Opportunity SWVA has selected Christiansburg, Virginia as one of the communities for the next round of RALLY. The seventh meeting about this grant will take place at Great Road on Main on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. The meeting will consist of discussing the project selected as part of the RALLY (Real Action Leadership Learning [YAY!]) grant. The community is invited to attend and share feedback and ideas. Rally SWVA is an action learning program that not only offers funds for a visible project but encourages local leaders and the community to work together toward a common goal. The $3,000 mini-grant program enables communities to work together on selecting a project that advances the community vision and enhances the environment for entrepreneurs. There may be a quorum of Christiansburg Town Council members present at the event.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the Arts Advisory Commission; Downtown Clock; Farmers Market 2020; New Business – Welcome Items; Appalachian Regional Commission Planning Grant; ARC Construction Grant application; Downtown Special Events; Town-Sponsored Spring Events (Chili Cook-Off and Rockin’ Main Street with The Worx); Safe Ride Home Initiative; and an Update on VA Tourism Rally Grant.
