The Town of Christiansburg will host the semi-annual Fall Cleanup from Oct. 5 through Oct. 18. During this time, the Town will collect special items placed out at the curb at no cost to the resident. These special materials must be placed out on the resident's regular garbage collection day. (Note: The special collection trucks may run behind schedule due to volume but will attempt to follow the regular solid waste pickup schedule.) While there is no charge for items picked up during this time, there will be a charge assessed for items placed out after Oct. 18. Visit www.christiansburg.org/cleanupFAQ for a list of acceptable items that may be placed out at this time.

Help prevent identity theft, shred unwanted documents, protect identifying information and clean out clutter! The Christiansburg Recreation Center will be holding a Shred-a-Thon on October 15 from 3-6 p.m. Please bring your documents in a box or plastic tote (no larger than 22.5x18x11.5") and respect the limit of three totes/boxes per vehicle. Items that cannot be shredded include: metal, three-ring binders, composition notebooks, hanging file folders, paint brushes, padlocks, hardback books, keys, eyeglasses, bungee cords, etc. Please note that the Shred-a-Thon is a drive-thru event; please do not get out of your car and approach the collection site, but rather stay in the line of vehicles for an event coordinator to approach you. No walk ups will be allowed. For more information, contact Tammy Caldwell at (540) 382-2349 ext. 2003 or email@example.com.
