Criminal Investigations Division

The Christiansburg Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is composed of a Lieutenant of Investigations, five Sergeant Detectives, an Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) investigator and a Family Services investigator. 

The primary responsibility of the CID is to work and follow up on criminal cases such as larcenies, frauds, sexual assaults, and many other types of felonies and serious misdemeanor crimes. Each Sergeant Detective is trained in hostage negotiations, interview and interrogation, homicide investigations, as well as many other specialty types of investigations.

Division Staff

One Sergeant Detective is certified as a crime scene technician through the Virginia Division of Forensic Science and a crime scene investigator through the International Association for Identification. The CID also has a Sergeant Detective who is certified in arson investigations. Collectively, the five Sergeant Detectives have worked between 400-450 cases per year for the last four years.
