Our K9s
The Christiansburg Police Department has two K9s—Pino and Vice. The K9s and their respective handlers, Officers Hyatt and Officer Eversole, assist in criminal apprehension, missing persons and drug task force operations.
The K9 unit was implemented at the Christiansburg Police Department in 2004 and originally consisted of one dual-purpose K9 for drug detection and patrol duties. In 2008, the agency added a second K9, and since then, has retained at least two K9s at a time. Currently, the department is served by:
- Pino, a Dutch Shepherd, specializing in drug detection, patrol duties, and tracking
- Vice, a German Shepherd, specializing in tracking and drug detection
