Launch Christiansburg is EXPANDING! The program is now open to anyone in the New River Valley (NRV)!

Here's how it works:

  • Christiansburg Residents - $200 refundable deposit, returned when you complete the program.
  • Non-Christiansburg Residents in the NRV planning to open a business in Christiansburg - $300 refundable deposit, returned when you complete the program.
  • Non-Christiansburg Residents in the NRV hoping to open a location outside of Town - $100 nonrefundable deposit.

While the educational program is now open to anyone in the NRV - only businesses set to open, or are currently open in the Town of Christiansburg are eligible for the $5,000 grant.

What is Launch Christiansburg

Launch Christiansburg is an educational program focused on helping current and prospective Christiansburg businesses thrive. At the end of the program, participants will deliver a business pitch with the opportunity to be awarded up to $5,000 in business investment grants. This program is designed to help Christiansburg residents, whether they are creatives, entrepreneurs, or business owners, with:

  • Information on how to complete a business canvas.
  • A platform for business expansion.
  • Connection to local resources.
  • Another networking opportunity.
  • Accountability to accomplish goals.
  • Understanding why specific activities matter, how they fit together, and if they are relevant.
  • The potential to pitch their project to a panel of judges who will be awarding the top three participants with business investment grants and memberships to the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
  • Continued supportive services and access to a business mentor program.

Business Sessions 

Launch Christiansburg Business Sessions will commence on Wednesday, September 03, 2025, and will run on consecutive Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for ten weeks.

Finding the Right Solution (Solution, Benefit, Advantage, Starting Small, Brand Identity)

Getting the Relationship Right (Marketing & Message; Getting, Keeping & Growing Customers)

Building Blocks (Distribution, Revenue, Typical Offering, Price)

Structures & Systems (Legal & Accounting Considerations)

Discovering the Bottom Line (Startup & Ongoing Needs, Fixed & Variable Costs, Raising Capital)

Financial Modeling (Break-Even point, Sales Projections, Cash Flow, Raising Capital)

Planning for Growth (Growth Plans, Goal Setting, Celebration Prep)

Wrap up, Prep for Pitch Competition, and Celebration!
