Getting to Christiansburg

The Smart Way Bus

A popular public transportation choice available to Christiansburg residents and guests is The Smart Way Bus. This program is a partnership between Valley Metro (City of Roanoke), Virginia Tech and the Towns of Christiansburg and Blacksburg.

Virginia Breeze Intercity Bus

The Virginia Breeze is an intercity bus service connecting Christiansburg with Union Station in Washington, D.C. The Valley Flyer and Highland Rhythms daily routes include several stops in the New River Valley, Shenandoah Valley and Northern Virginia and south to Wytheville and Bristol. Ticket prices range from $16-$50, depending on your selected trip. Visit their website for more information, schedules and tickets.

Ride Solutions

Carpooling opportunities are also available through Ride Solutions, a joint venture of the Roanoke and New River Valley Planning District Commissions.

Radford Transit

Radford Transit is a fare free service that provides connections between Christiansburg, and Radford, Monday through Saturday.

Pulaski Area Transit

Pulaski Area Transit includes a stop at Uptown Christiansburg (formerly NRV Mall)/New River Community College on its New River Express route. For more information, please visit https://pulaskitransit.org/new-river-express.html 

Amtrack

Amtrack connects travelers in the New River Valley to the Roanoke passenger rail station with a thru-way bus service operated by Smart Way, which picks up passengers at the Exit 118A Park and Ride in Christiansburg. Please visit Amtrack passenger rail services  Roanoke, VA for more information.
