Overview

The Engineering Department provides engineering and technical support for Public Works functions, land development permitting, and associated customer services. Department responsibilities include:

Customer Service

The Engineering Staff takes great pride in our community and citizens. Feel free to contact us if you have questions or concerns regarding Town systems (water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and streets) and the Town Code.

Land Development

Land Development monitors the development process from initial plan review through construction and inspections. With assistance from the Planning and Building Inspections departments, engineering plans are reviewed for compliance with state health and environmental regulations and with town code, subdivision ordinance, and development standards.

Engineering Inspections

Engineering Inspections conducts inspections of capital improvement and private land development construction projects for plan and regulatory compliance.

Design Administration Services

Design Administration Services are involved with preparation of plans, specifications, and project management of public improvement projects including street, water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems.

Construction Administration

Construction Administration oversees bidding and construction administration of public improvement capital projects.

Regulatory Compliance

Regulatory Compliance oversees Town systems for compliance with state regulations, including:

• Stormwater Management and Erosion / Sediment Control - Virginia Department of Environmental Quality
• Sanitary Sewer System – Virginia Department of Environmental Quality
• Water Distribution System - Virginia Department of Health
