The Montgomery-Blacksburg-Christiansburg (MBC) Development Corporation is a local, non-profit, community development corporation. It was created by the Montgomery County Economic Development Authority (EDA) to enhance and broaden the employment base in Montgomery County by providing small business with low interest loans not available from conventional sources. The recipients of MBC loans are small businesses that are deemed to have potential growth and success in their area of expertise or specialization. Typically, the loan period is five years or less, making it a short-term loan. The amount of the loan is determined by need and availability of funds (generally $50,000 to $75,000). Repayment terms generally require monthly or quarterly payments of principal and interest.
Members serve three-year terms.
