During the remainder of 2024, VDOT will be working to upgrade signals throughout the Town of Christiansburg as part of the Traffic Signal Coordination Program. These improvements will allow VDOT to better coordinate detours with the Town when there are incidences that occur on the I-81 Corridor.
Beginning the week of May 21, a contractor will be installing junction boxes and trenching in the following locations:
- May 20-23 - S. Franklin St. / First St. and W. Main St. / Depot St.
- May 27-30 - W. Main St. / Radford Rd. and at Roanoke St. / Depot St.
These work locations will require temporary road closures. Signage will be in place to direct traffic. Motorists should proceed with caution and expect delays.
The work for this project will be intermittent throughout the year. We will continue to post updates on this project when we have more information.
