Town of Christiansburg – Notice of Town Council Vacancy
The Town of Christiansburg is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Christiansburg Town Council. The individual appointed will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term, which concludes on December 31, 2025.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a qualified voter within the Town of Christiansburg.
- Be available to attend regular Town Council meetings, typically held twice per month, as well as occasional special sessions and work sessions and any associated committee or board appointments.
Application Process
Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest, along with a resume including any relevant background information or qualifications, for consideration by the Town Council. In addition, per § 2.2-3115, members of Town Council are required to submit the State and Local Statement of Economic Interests.

Following the close of the application period, the Town Council will review submissions and announce the names of all persons being proposed for the interim appointment at the next Town Council meeting on September 9, 2025. The letter of interest, resume, and all provided materials shall be made available for inspection. A qualified individual will be appointed as early as September 16, 2025, to serve until the end of the current term.
Town Council members are subject to the Virginia Conflict of Interest Act (COIA) State and Local Government Conflict of Interests Act, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) (Virginia Freedom of Information Act), and any and all other local and state laws and regulations as well as are bound by a Town Council adopted Code of Ethics (Town Council Code of Ethics).
