[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Town of Christiansburg out of bags, still giving away sand

Christiansburg Town Hall

UPDATE: As of 9/13/18 at 11 a.m., the Town is out of bags. Sand, shovels and staff members remain on site at the Aquatic Center if individuals wish to fill their own bags. The Town has ordered more bags, and when they arrive, we will update this post.

-------

The Town of Christiansburg is offering free sandbags to Town residents and Town businesses in preparation of Hurricane Florence.

Beginning today, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m., Public Works will have sand and 500 bags in the upper rear lot of the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, 595 N. Franklin Street. The upper rear lot borders Mill Lane and Depot Street.

The sand and bags will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis. Shovels will be provided, and a crew member will remain on site to help individuals fill their bags.

The giveaway will continue on Thursday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, or while supplies last. For more information or questions, please call Christiansburg Public Works at (540) 382-1151.

And for more information on storm preparation, visit www.christiansburg.org/florence.
