Beginning Feb. 14, contractors will begin extensive work to the Arbor Drive and Peppers Ferry Road intersection, lasting several months.
This project will involve the construction of a left-turn lane from Arbor Drive, curb and gutter, a sidewalk, accessible ramps, crosswalks, median modifications, and a signal head addition.
This project will cause traffic delays. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternative routes when traveling along the Peppers Ferry Road intersection near Arbor Drive. Access will remain open to all area businesses; however, it is suggested that drivers use North Franklin Street to reach Arbor Drive.
The work will be done in four phases.
- Phases I and II will involve work along Peppers Ferry Road and will have daily lane closures. These phases are expected to progress quickly.
- Phase III will involve lane closures on Peppers Ferry Road and shoulder closures on Arbor Drive to begin widening the street to provide a dedicated left-turn lane on Arbor Drive.
- Phase IV work will generally be limited to shoulder closures on Arbor Drive to replace sidewalk and install access ramps along the existing sidewalk.
Work is expected to be completed by Oct. 2022.
