The Town of Christiansburg is pleased to announce an upcoming construction project to improve accessibility along Roanoke St. The purpose of the project is to construct approximately 930 feet of sidewalk between the Highway 460/Roanoke St. intersection and Hubbell Dr. NE. The project will also involve milling and overlaying asphalt, installing curb and gutter, pedestrian signals, and storm sewer improvements. The scheduled work will begin on April 17, 2023 and end during Fall 2023.
During this construction period, there may be some disruptions to traffic and access to nearby properties, including temporary lane closures. However, the Town of Christiansburg will make every effort to minimize these disruptions and ensure the safety of all pedestrians and motorists. We encourage all residents and motorists to exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and to follow all posted signs and instructions.
A contractor will perform the work and be responsible for all aspects of the project, including scheduling, materials, and construction. The Town of Christiansburg will oversee the project and ensure that it is completed to the highest standards. Partial funding for the project is provided by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). If you have any questions or concerns about the project, please contact the Town Engineering Department at (540) 382-6120.
While this project is separate from the Waterline Replacement Project currently happening on Roanoke St., we do want to remind citizens that pavement on Roanoke St. is expected to begin Fall of 2023.
