Due to a clerical error, we would like to inform you of an oversight with one of the Town of Christiansburg’s water-monitoring tests. The Town monitors drinking water with a variety of tests, in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia/State Board of Health Waterworks Regulations. This occurs quarterly throughout the year.
During the 4th calendar quarter of 2023, administration missed a sampling of total trihalomethanes and haloacetic acids. All other samplings were completed and confirmed safe, including bacteria testing.
State health officials with the VDH believe there is little need for concern about the safety of your water as past records show that our system has had no documented problems with total trihalomethanes and haloacetic acids contamination, however routine sampling and analysis is required to determine the quality of water. The Town would also like to note that our drinking water comes from the New River Valley Regional Water Authority, as do several neighboring localities. No reports of poor water quality have been documented by these localities.
There is nothing residents need to do at this time. Again, state health officials feel there is little need for concern.
