During the remainder of 2024, VDOT will be working to upgrade signals throughout the Town of Christiansburg as part of the Traffic Signal Coordination Program. These improvements will allow VDOT to better coordinate detours with the Town when there are incidences that occur on the I-81 Corridor.
Beginning May 13, work will take place in two locations:
- From May 13 to May 15, a contractor will be performing asphalt repairs on W. Main St. / Radford St. and W. Main St. / Depot St.
- On May 16, a contractor will be installing junction boxes and trenching at Roanoke St. / First St.
Both work locations will require temporary road closures. Signage will be in place to direct traffic. Motorists should proceed with caution and expect delays.
The work for this project will be intermittent throughout the year. We will continue to post updates on this project when we have more information.
