Renew Business License Online
File Your 2023 Renewal and Pay Online
If you do not have past-due licenses, you may now file your 2023 business license renewals through our Customer Self Service Portal (CSS). If you do have past-due licenses, please contact our office to get current before renewing for 2023. The CSS also has forms that are available to be filled out and scanned and attached with your renewal, if needed. These forms can be found in the upper right-hand corner under resources. These forms may be printed out, completed, scanned and attached to your filing before submission.
Step 1: Go to https://selfservice.christiansburg.org/css
Step 2: Click "Citizen Self Service"
Step 3: Click Log in to access business license
Step 4: Go to bottom of the screen and click "Don't have an account? Sign Up" Fill out all fields and click the "Sign Up" box.
Step 5: You will receive a verification email to activate your account. Once you click "activate" you will be able to log in to the CSS portal.
Step 6: Once you have logged-in you may click on “Business License” on the left.
Step 7: Before you can “search bills” you need to link a business account to your account. Click on “Accounts” to the left.
Step 8: Click "link to account"
Step 9: Enter the account id of the business. (This number may be found on your current license where it is called Business Account Number.) - Enter the Owner's CID. (This number may be found on your current license where it is called Customer Number.)
Step 10: You will see your linked business. Click “Enter Filing”. If you have one license, you will click “enter filing” again and if you have multiple licenses, you will click “Select” to renew each individual license.
Step 11: On the 2023 line, click “Enter Filing.”
Step 12: In the Gross Receipts Box enter your gross receipts from 2022. The estimated box should not be checked for any renewal. If you have any allowable deductions, (this applies to contractors ONLY) enter that amount in deductions box. Once you have entered the appropriate information, click “Continue”. If you have other license fees that are a set fee, those fee amounts should populate for you to pay.
Step 13: If the information is correct, check the acknowledgement box and click SUBMIT.
Step 14: Add bill to cart and follow payment instructions.
Once you have completed all steps, a receipt will be displayed. Your business license will be emailed or mailed to you within 5-10 business days.
